Sometimes if you put your towel animal on a smooth surface (like a marble countertop), it will slip, fall, and generally not look right!

We can't have that now can we?

Ok, here's what you do...Just put a hand towel underneath your towel animal!

That will give it some "traction" and make sure that it stays standing.

Towel Animal Stars In Latest Carnival Cruise Commercial

Have you seen the latest Carnival Cruise commercial?

“In the mornin', in the evenin', ain't we got fun?”...

Carnival is currently celebrating it's 35th year in operation and maintains it's status as the world's largest cruise operator.

But what's the big deal about their latest commercial?

Well, at the very end of the commercial a child is shown going to bed with a soft, cuddly....towel? That's right, a towel. But not your ordinary towel. A towel folded into the shape of a puppy!

It's been a long-standing treat on cruise lines to come back to your cabin and be greeted by one of these adorable towel animals (aka towel origami). As a matter of fact, after the food, it seems to be one of the most memorable parts of the trip.

Cabin stewards train for more than 10 hours to learn how to make towel animals. What animals can you learn to fold with towels? How about a swan, a turtle, a snail, an elephant, a scorpion, a puppy , or even a hanging monkey.

Carnival has had so much interest in their towel animal creations that they have published a book with over 35 different towel animals. You've got to buy it from the gift shop while on board the ship though.

For others who would like to make their own towel origami, but don't have the bucks to take a cruise, books are available at many online book retailers.

I know everyone has been on the edge of their seats wanting to see more videos of me making towel animals & sorry we had to pull the other one.

But I've got some good news...for the time being, we're going to release videos one at a time as we complete them for viewing and purchase online. We figured this was the quickest way to get the videos out to everyone while we finish the entire collection.

Found...Towel Animal Folding Diagrams

Hi Everyone,

So far the towel animal video market testing has returned results far better than we expected. There definitely seems to be a hungry market of people wanting to make these beauties!

We've had many of you take our survey and a we noticed a surprising result...

Some (and I do mean "some") of you would actually prefer drawn diagrams over a DVD video! That's surprising to me, but as I thought about it -- I guess that does make it portable at least.

The only problem, is I don't know how you'll be able to make any towel animals once you get where you're going!

Here's why I say what I say...

Welcome to our towel animal blog!

Ok...I know, it's a little weird. An entire blog dedicated to those adorable towel animals that mysteriously show up in your room when you're on a Carnival cruise??

Yup!

My husband and I just got home from a romantic Carnival cruise to the Bahamas. It was wonderful. We were on the Elation and had ports of call in Freeport & Nassau.

Now if you've ever been on a cruise, you know that one of the best parts is the FOOD...

But also every night when you come back to your stateroom, the cruise staff makes these cute towel animals and puts them in interesting places!

Here's what one looks like!

They even offered a class on how to make them & (of course) I went. I found out that I actually have a little bit of a knack for making these...and it's so much fun!

Carnival sells a book in the gift shop for $12 or $15 with instructions on how to make them, but I didn't get it. I felt that it's much better for someone to show me how to do it in person, like the class.

When we got home, we looked on the internet for someone that actually SHOWED you how to do it, but we only found one DVD set with only a few of the animals (one of those "As Seen On TV" things).

So my husband (Tony) came up with the idea of video taping me making ALL of the amazing animals that Carnival makes. That's how this blog got started.

You've probably arrived here because you watched the free video we made available to everyone that shows an actual cruise line employee making a towel elephant. We hope you enjoyed it and it wets your appetite for things to come!
